Amethyst “Sobriety Stone”
Amethyst, The purple toned crystal of royalty. This highly vibrational stone, is associated with mind awakening, psychic powers and sobriety. This stone can guard against psychic attacks.
This is a great stone to help those with addictions and blockages of all
kinds. This stone being associated with the mind, can help with focusing and creativity. Aiding in mental ventures. A cleanser from bad habits and destructive addictions such as substances and alcohol.
Historical Folklore
In history, amethyst was popularly used as a remedy to intoxication. Stories of historical cultures using the stone in their wine, as well as goblets and glasses containing amethysts in a sense to help prevent intoxication. The origin story for the purple hue of the stone; “Once Dionysus was so annoyed by Artemis that he set his sacred tigers upon a maiden attending her shrine. To preserve the maiden, whose name was Amethyst, Artemis petrified her in sparkling quartz. Lamenting this virgin’s demise, Dionysus poured the contents of his cup over the statue, which immediately became infused with the purple of the grape.”
